Rain!

Just a few days ago, the sky opened up for the first time since we’ve been here. When the storm came, we were out near the Argentina border photographing the sheep. We hopped in the car and drove west, head-on into the storm and out the other side.

When Conservación Patagónica bought the Valle Chacabuco estancia back in 2004, they purchased only a very small fraction of the estancia's sheep. The park maintains this small sheep population as a source of food for employees and volunteers. Photo by Marty Schnure & Ross Donihue.

    • Hi Frank, lamb is a major staple in everyone’s diet here! We usually have it about 4 times a week. The sheep you see in these pictures are part of the herd that they maintain for feeding all the employees here.
